Logan Sports Marketing provided the Cricket for Heroes Organising Committee with a turnkey event management, marketing and sponsorship service for the inaugural Cricket for Heroes Twenty20 fundraising event at the Kia Oval.
Working with the Organising Committee and event sponsors we developed a creative and profitable event which raised a significant six-figure sum for Help for Heroes. We secured title and associate partners, managed the delivery of all promotions, PR, digital output, fundraising and event materials. We co-ordinated the global cricket stars who flew in from around the world and worked closely with the Kia Oval to manage event operations and vendor relationships.
On the eve of the event, LSM accompanied the Organising Committee, and a line-up of international cricket legends which included Brian Lara, M.S. Dhoni, Andrew Strauss and Brendon McCullum to 10 Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister.
On Thursday 17th September in front of a near-capacity crowd of 19,000, first watched the inaugural match between the Help for Heroes Cricket Club and the England Physical Disability Team. Next up, the Rest of the World XI captain Brendon McCullum won the toss and elected to bat, and his side, boasting stars such as Matthew Hayden, Graeme Smith, Brian Lara and Mahela Jayawardene reached 158-6 from their 20 overs. England legends Darren Gough and Graeme Swann impressed with the ball, taking four wickets between them. The run chase got off to a powerful start thanks to Help for Heroes XI captain Andrew Strauss, who was backed to the tune of a £1,100 donation for every boundary he hit, and his opening partner Virender Sehwag. The stage was eventually set for Indian icon MS Dhoni to delight his adoring fans by steering the Help for Heroes XI to victory with an unbeaten 38 to earn the Man of the Match award.
The inaugural Cricket for Heroes was a historic sporting occasion for both the Kia Oval and Help for Heroes and LSM is extremely proud to have played an integral role in such a memorable event.
